Vedvyas Ispat Ltd. (Amalgamated w/Adhunik Group of Industries)
As an IT Engineer
Projects worked on:
Stores
Automation: This software was developed from scratch for Vedvyas Ispat
Limited (now Adhunik Group) for its stores and material management. The
platform used for the development of this module was VB.Net for the front end
and Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 as the back end database. Key features
Inheritance, Constructors and Destructors, Multithreading, Structured
exception handling etc were the strong factors in making choice of VB.Net for
developing front end. Likewise features looked upon while choosing Microsoft
SQL server was fully web-enabled, highly scalable and reliable and very fast
to develop abilities. Complete Design of the stores management inventory
system was created based on the requirements of VIL and documented.
The structure of the application to be developed wan an MDI application where
in the user will have a detailed set of menus for the various data entry
fields. Some amounts of validations were to be done related to the data entry
fields. The purpose and the detailed validation rules which need to be
followed in the module were very clearly instructed in the design document.
Page wise details were mentioned according to the various forms which were to
be created in the module. Hierarchical Flow diagram for Stores Management
project was also created. Some important terms, fields and Concepts like Item
No., Code No., Reference No., Issued, Stock, Bin Card, Purchase Indent,
Material Receipt Note, Material Requisition Cum issue Note, Balance, Maximum
- Minimum Stock and Reordering Level were all used in the design and software
program.
Departments Tracking System: This software was developed for tracking
performance of each of the departments in the plant and generating MIS
reports. Technologies used were Java jdk1.3 as front end and Microsoft SQL
Server 7.0. Accessibility from any location, Virus-Free system, Platform Independent,
speed and development time were prominent features matching our requirement.
This software supported all departments of the plant namely Mechanical,
Electrical, Process, Laboratory, Iron Ore Crusher and coal Crusher. Data from
each of these departments were collected through front end developed in Java
and stored in database developed in SQL Server. Using these data, MIS reports
were generated containing raw materials consumption, yield, capacity
utilization and campaign days for a given time period. Also reports like raw
material analysis, metallurgical process analysis, comparative charts between
various parameters report were be generated periodically for analysis and
improving industry performance.
Server: Sponge
Iron industry had Server (IBM Thinkcentre) with Operating System Windows 2000
Server and Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 been centrally located in the office
building. It was Database Administrator’s responsibility to
check every data update made to the database for its correctness and take
appropriate actions if necessary. Suitable back-up planning was made for
storing and retaining old data.
LAN: Local
Area Network was established using coaxial cable been laid to every
department with 24 port switch so that there will consistent flow of data
from client to Server and Server from Client.
Environnent:
JAVA, Microsoft SQL 7.0, e-commerce for stores, inventory, and
finanace integration
